The Rockingham County Attorneys Office budget should be managed by someone competent to control spending and experienced in complex contracts.

Rich does not agree that the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office should be a significant part of the $50 million dollar proposed construction project for the new county complex. The estimate is five-years old and will cost significantly more. Rich feels that a new proposal should be taken into consideration that would include a hybrid work model for the Rockingham County Attorneys Office. This would allow its’ attorneys to work from home and from the office. This would be a significant savings to the County.

Rich feels the final construction cost could be thirty percent higher than the estimate. The building that they are proposing would last approximately 50 years. This is not long enough.

Rich believes a percentage of the budget should go toward social programs including women’s health issues and increasing the availability of drug and mental health rehabilitation and treatment.
